10 Things to do in Sheffield

There are plenty of things to do in Sheffield. But, it is not always easy to get started. I would
recommend the following for new students!

10. Weston Park
Weston Park is right next to the University of Sheffield. It is the best place to go for relaxing when
you are working on the campus. Go for a walk in the park when you need some fresh air!

9. Endcliffe Park
Endcliffe Park is my favourite park in town. Next to the big grass area inside the park is a café where
you can enjoy a lovely afternoon either yourself or with your friends. You can also follow the
footpath go through the woods to the Forge Dam Café.

8. The Peak District
Sheffield is also very close to the Peak District. It is the first national park of the country. An hour’s
ride brings you to some of the most beautiful and popular spots in the UK. Chatsworth House is only
50 mins by bus; Hope, Castleton, Edale, and many other lovely places in the Pear are also nearby.

7. Kelham Island
Kelham Island is about 15-20 mins walk from the University. It is home to the Kelham Island Museum, several nice pubs and cafés, a great area to hand out with friends.

6. Division Street
If you are looking for independent shops, Division Street is the right place to go. There is also a big second-hand book store. Down the street is the city centre area.

5. The city centre
Walking down from Division Street, you will first see Sheffield’s City Hall on your left hand side. Keep walking for another 3 mins, you will find Orchard Square and Fargate, where you can find Waterstone’s, Marks and Spencer, Boots, and many other shops.

4. Meadowhall Shopping Centre
If you really want to do some serious shopping, then, I recommend you to go to Meadowhall
Shopping Centre. It’s not in town, but both train and tram can bring you there in a very short time!

3. The Moor Market
For grocery shopping, the best place to go in Sheffield is the Moor Market. There are plenty of stalls
selling all kinds of meats, fishes, seafood, and vegetables, basically everything you need for cooking a nice meal!

2. Cinemas
Film lovers can go to the Showroom Cinema or Curzon in town. If you want to watch 3D or IMAX
films there is Cineworld in Valley Centertainment.

1. Eating out
Finally, there are many international restaurants on London Road, one of the best places for dinning
out in town. Surely there are other exciting things to do in Sheffield, and I believe that it won’t take long for you to develop your own list!
