Sheffield offers various cuisines, whether you prefer Chinese, Indian, Mexican, it has it all. This is of course incomparable to a city like London, Nevertheless, what Sheffield has to offer is more than enough in my opinion. Restaurants are mainly concentrated around West street, Leopold Square, London Road, and Ecclesall Road but there are obviously others in more areas. All these locations are relatively close to campus.
In terms of halal food, London Road is probably the best area. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from campus, and there is always the option of taking a taxi which should not cost more than £5. There are of course other halal serving restaurants around the city centre, but they are more concentrated on London Road. The costs of eating out aren’t excessive, nor cheap. It completely depends on the restaurant, it could cost anywhere from £4 up to £12 which is not too bad if done in moderation.
But if you were to ask me where I would prefer to eat, it would be the Great Gatsby, located on Division Street. It has a very cozy texture to it, staff are exceptionally nice, and the food is outstandingly delicious. In my opinion the best courses on their menu are their Chili Cheese Fries and Chili Nachos. I tend to go there because it’s a place my friends and I feel comfortable chilling in on a Friday afternoon, where the week just ended and all the pressure just halts to a standstill.
